posted this (and may other poems). It was too good not to share.
May you be nourished.
Form Your Letters by Antonio Machado
“Form your letters carefully and well.
Making things carefully
Is more important than making them.”
Every day is a basket we are entrusted with
Your very body is a basket that arrived onto the shores of this world
Sent from them
Through her
To us
Laden with just the gifts we needed at this time
And in this place.
Every lifetime is a basket.
And this yurt is a basket.
Tonight is a basket.
And I wonder, am I holding this basket of days?
Or am I being held inside of it and you have become the basket?
Or are you what has filled it?
Is this basket made up of my days or filled by them?
Or is it all of that?
But, maybe, also this too:
that you and I have always been the baskets of, and from, the Holy
**Don’t you remember how it was?**
Before you were born, you were given the basket of your body
Maybe you chose
Maybe one was offered and you said ‘yes’
Regardless of how it went, I see that you all went for the “good looking” model
And I don’t blame you
Why not be beautiful for a while?
And then there’s basket of your life.
Which, before you came, was filled with gifts.
