Dearest reader— let’s dream big today.

(paid subscribers… at the bottom to receive your extra special goodies today).

There may come a time when there is a story that there is no water.

(Its ok— that story won’t last very long)

This is just a story and some stories are made to be forgotten.

And we are in forgetting times.

When the strings tied to the past
have been cut—
not by your own hand,
but by one larger,
greater—
wielding scissors that slice through
time and space,
width and height—
still,
none of that matters.
Stop getting distracted.

Here’s what matters.

Life.

Plain and simple.

You have but one task: To keep life going.

To keep the story alive.

This is our sacred responsibility as storytellers:

To keep the story alive.

But more to the point.

There may come a moment when there is a story that there is no water

Even though:

There is marrow in you that must grow.

There is a mouth you must feed.

There is a plant who depends on you to leaf.

And so you keep the story going

because

Once upon a time you heard a story about a people who knew how to sing the salmon back to the waters.

Because

Once upon a time you heard a story about a people who knew how to call the water from sky to land.

Because

Once upon a time you heard a story of a man who knew how to invite good people who did bad things to the land, make reparations, so the waters would flow in the desert yet again.

These are true stories born out of our time.

You see:

there may come a day

when water decides it's not safe

to flow among us

and she made hide.

Remember:

this will be temporary.

For even Water may fall under the spell of not enough.

And then it will be your time

To sing the waters home.

To sing the waters to life.

To sing life back into being

But how will you know if you don’t know the stories?

If the songs don’t flow within you?

How will you keep the story (of life that is) alive?
